Chayce McDermott’s day got off to a rough start as he allowed a lead-off home run and gave up two total runs in the top of the first inning. But he settled down a bit from there to go five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, no walks, and eight strikeouts. Jonathan Heasley was the only other Norfolk pitcher needed to complete the seven-inning game. He tossed two scoreless frames and struck out two. Heasley has now gone four straight appearances without allowing a run, a streak that has spanned 11.1 innings. His ERA with Norfolk is down to 0.
